Welcome to another installment of iontuition’s Q&A series with personal finance bloggers. We have millennial personal finance author, speaker and entrepreneur, Stefanie O’Connell, sharing her financial expertise with us. Stefanie is a former broke actress turned personal finance expert – necessity is the mother of invention. Between her itty-bitty paychecks and the daunting cost of living in New York City, she became an expert saver. Stefanie then channeled that energy into a broader zest for personal finance and soon found herself very much empowered by her finances and starting her own blog, StefanieOConnell.com and wrote a book in 2015, The Broke and Beautiful Life.

Stefanie is dedicated to helping young adults achieve financial greatness – we’re pleased to share her tips with you!

What’s the best piece of financial advice you ever received?

Go for the big wins. It’s great to save with 50 cent coupons here and there, but improving your credit score, getting a better financing deal on your student loans or upping your salary are the kinds of big wins that will really rock your financial world in a hugely beneficial way.

What’s your advice for those who already have student loans?

Get serious about your loans now. Don’t wait till graduation or the end of your grace period. The more you know about your options, the better off you’ll be.
